Alaina is a doctoral candidate concentrating on sustainability and resilience in Northeastern’s school of Public Policy and Urban Affairs. Her dissertation research examines the confluence of corporate obstruction and frontline advocacy in the climate policy process. Her previous work includes research on evaluating UNDP Nature-based Adaptation initiatives in Latin America and narratives in Puerto Rican climate policy on an NSF grant with Dr. Laura Kuhl. She has additionally written a paper outlining a paradigm shift for climate justice in higher education, a comparative analysis of Green New Deal proposals with Dr. Jennie C Stephens, research on the evaluation of environmental justice policies at the state and federal level, and a study of the policy diffusion effects of regional climate policy collaboration.
