Dr. Jared Heern is a Postdoctoral Research Associate in Environment and Society at Brown University and a Senior Researcher for the Climate and Development Lab. He researches the politics of climate and energy policy in the United States, particularly the actions of legislative and executive branch institutions and the influence of interest groups and the public. His dissertation examined state public utility commissions and their role in the energy transition through their regulation of the electrical power industry. Ongoing research is concerned with industry capture of regulatory institutions as well as conflicts over rooftop solar energy incentives. He received a PhD in Political Science from George Washington University in 2022 and a BA in Political Science from Truman State University in 2017.
