Lior Hamovitz is a rising scholar in the field of Climate Justice, and her research centers on understanding environmental injustices through a socio-geographic regionalist perspective she is developing. She specializes in political theory, with an emphasis on issues of intergenerational and global justice, and the evolving sphere of literature on intersectional environmentalism. Her work aims to inform and contribute to not only academic scholarship, but also the practice of justice-making in climate related issues. She has earned her bachelor’s degree in World Politics from Leiden University, and her master’s degree in Political Science from the Hebrew University of Jerusalem.

During her graduate studies, Lior expects to pen and publish work that focuses on Latin America as a case study of climate injustices as understood from a regional lens. This research, involving varied methodologies from Political Science, Law, Anthropology and Sociology, sets out to formulate grounded normative theories of Climate Justice. This research objective centers around the compounding effects of geography, history and identity in people’s lived experience of climate injustices, as well as these elements’ interaction with global climate regimes.
