Berta Roset Pérez is a Barcelona-based PhD student at the Institute of Environmental Science and Technology (ICTA-UAB). She graduated in 2019 with an Environmental Sciences Degree from the Autonomous University of Barcelona (UAB). Then, went on to get her Master’s Degree in Interdisciplinary Studies in Environmental, Economic and Social Sustainability with an Ecological Economics major in 2021 at UAB.As an environmental scientist her work has an interdisciplinary nature and is currently focused on how democratic the energy transition in Europe is being. With such a broad aim, the objective of her PhD is to assess the discourses and power dynamics that arise in participative processes for the energy transition, with a case study of technological innovation for biomethane production in north-west Spain. Previous jobs include two years in consultancy for the health, safety and environment legal advice department, as well as research technician for two European projects (H2020 and Horizon Europe). Her days are split between the PhD and her current volunteering position as the Vice-president of the Col·legi d’Ambientòlegs de Catalunya (COAMB), in English the professional association of environmental scientists of Catalunya, Spain.
