CSSN Scholar Duncan McLaren, in collaboration with Olaf Corry, has introduced the novel concept of ‘societal climate security.’ This perspective frames climate responses as a threat to current lifestyles, resulting in exceptional measures and a heightened interest in less disruptive climate interventions, such as geoengineering, within policy discussions.
