Dr. Amit Kumar Srivastava is an Assistant Professor of Geography at Shivaji College, University of Delhi, with over a decade of experience in research, consultancy, and policy engagement focused on climate change, environmental governance, and sustainable development. His interdisciplinary work draws from geography, environmental studies, and social science approaches to understand human-environment interactions, particularly in the context of climate vulnerability and resilience in South Asia.

Dr. Srivastava’s research includes extensive fieldwork on natural resource management, traditional ecological knowledge, and the socio-political dimensions of climate adaptation. His doctoral research examined sustainable livelihoods in drought-prone regions of Maharashtra, emphasizing the role of commons and traditional institutions in climate resilience. He has served in advisory and implementation roles for government agencies, national NGOs, and international development organizations, contributing to projects on climate vulnerability assessment, disaster risk reduction, and urban infrastructure resilience.

He is also a trustee of the Centre for Democracy, Pluralism and Human Rights (CDPHR) and a member of several academic and policy networks, including the Climate Social Science Network. His recent work engages with the political economy of climate action and obstruction in India, including state and non-state actors’ roles in shaping climate discourse and policy.

Dr. Srivastava regularly contributes to public and academic dialogues through lectures, workshops, and publications, aiming to bridge the gap between research, policy, and practice in the climate space.
