A communications and media scholar, he graduated as a journalist from the Federal University of Minas Gerais (UFMG), with an exchange program at the Autonomous University of the State of Mexico. He holds a master’s degree in Communication and Culture from the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro (UFRJ), was a Visiting Researcher at the Department of Psychoanalysis and Psychosocial Studies at the University of Essex, and is currently a PhD candidate in Social Communication at the UFMG. He is a member of MARGEM – Democracy and Justice Research Group at UFMG, developing research dedicated to subjectivities and political performances in Latin America, with a particular interest in public grief and denialism around environmental catastrophes. He is also a photographer, video maker, and media activist. He took part in the Minas Gerais Committee of the National Forum for the Democratization of Communication (FNDC) and collaborated with networks of media activists such as Mídia Ninja, Jornalistas Livres, and Rede Facción, having experience reporting on social movements in Argentina, Brazil, and Mexico.
