Carmella is a PhD student in Public Policy at Northeastern’s School of Public Policy and Urban Affairs, with a concentration in Sustainability and Resilience. She holds a BA in International Development Studies and Political Science from McGill University, and an MA in Sustainable Energy Policy from Carleton University.

Currently, Carmella is engaged in research with Dr. Laura Kuhl, exploring the transformational potential of Nature-based Solutions in coastal Massachusetts. Simultaneously, her research interests encompass three key areas: (1) how civil society perceives the challenges and opportunities of the energy transition, (2) the justice and equity implications of innovative climate finance instruments in supporting adaptation and mitigation projects in sub-Saharan African countries, and (3) the concept of country ownership in climate finance.
