David Michaels, an epidemiologist and Professor at the George Washington University School of Public Health, served as Assistant Secretary of Labor for the Occupational Safety and Health Administration 2009-2017, the longest serving in OSHA’s history. He was Assistant Secretary of Energy for Environment, Safety and Health 1998-2001. Much of his work focuses on protecting the integrity of the science underpinning public health, safety, and environmental protections and is author of “Doubt is Their Product: How Industry’s Assault on Science Threatens Your Health” and “The Triumph of Doubt: Dark Money and the Science of Deception” (Oxford University Press, 2020).
