Doris Fuchs is scientific director at the RIFS in Potsdam and Professor of Sustainable Development at the University of Münster. Her work focuses on the sustainability-democracy nexus, studying the role of citizen participation and the power of non-state (esp. economic) actors, in particular. In addition, her research explores the political economy of (un)sustainable consumption, exploring and highlighting especially the role of structural barriers to sustainability. Core concepts promoted by her collaborations with other scholars include “strong sustainable consumption governance” and “consumption corridors”, and she is currently leading the Horizon Europe project “EU1.5°Lifestyles”.
