Emily Warwick is a PhD Student at the University of Virginia Department of Politics. Her research agenda focuses on urban environmental politics of the Global South, with a regional focus on Latin America. All of her work employs a multi-methods approach. More specifically, her dissertation investigates how residents of informal settlements navigate their environmental vulnerability vis-à-vis the state and how state logics of environmental risk implicate complex political interests which may inhibit climate resilience for vulnerable populations. In other co-authored work, she explores the role of patriotism and national identities of citizens in activating environmental concern and willingness to act surrounding climate issues through a survey experiment in Bolivia.
