Dr. Fernando is an Associate Professor of Sustainability at the Hanley Sustainability Institute at the University of Dayton. He teaches undergraduate and graduate courses in sustainability such as intro, urban sustainability, sustainability scenarios, and applied sustainability. Dr. Fernando’s training is grounded in environmental sciences, environmental economics, environmental sociology, and business.
Dr. Fernando works closely with local policy makers and stakeholders on climate resilience, local sustainability initiatives, and climate policy using community based participatory research methods. His research interests focus on dynamics through which communities try to advance climate mitigation/adaptation initiatives and build climate resilience.
