He received his Ph.D. from Bursa Uludağ University with a comparative dissertation on political-cultural transformation in Russia and Iran from the perspective of historical sociology. Working at the intersection of area studies and theory-driven empirical research, he has focused on themes such as historical thought, legitimacy, tradition, and political culture. In his subsequent works, he analyzed the tension between political and civil society in terms of the obstacles and opportunities for democratization. Within this framework, he aimed to develop an explanation that linked radical forms of violence, such as revolution, coups d’état, and terrorism, to continuities and ruptures in political culture in authoritarian and totalitarian regimes. More recently, he has shifted his focus, from a political science perspective, to the nexus of climate change, nationalism, the far right, and authoritarianism, aiming to contribute to the field through publications on the relationship between climate policy and nationalism, climate obstruction, and ecofascism. He is also involved in academic and civic initiatives on the educational and dissemination dimensions of democratic deliberation and climate-based just transition.
