Holly Jansen is a doctoral student at the University of California, San Diego. Her research examines how natural and climate disasters affect women’s political representation, governance effectiveness, and environmental policymaking. She explores whether women’s outsider status influences their ability to navigate political networks to deliver disaster relief, as well as how their presence shapes opposition policy strategies and electoral accountability. Focusing on Southeast Asia, particularly the Philippines, Holly employs mixed methods to advance understanding of gender and environmental politics in disaster-prone regions.
