Hyeyoung Sim is an applied social scientist examining the social and environmental impacts of climate policies, specifically adaptation, mitigation, decarbonization, and energy transitions, across East Asia. Currently serving as a Research Fellow at Greenpeace East Asia, her work evaluates how these policies intersect with Energy Justice and Just Transition frameworks. Her core research focuses on policy governance, burden distribution, and “Green Conflicts”, the tensions arising from renewable energy expansion. Utilizing a mixed-methods approach, Hyeyoung investigates the on-the-ground consequences of climate strategies, from analyzing greening developmental states in the region to identifying critical service gaps for unseen vulnerable populations during climate disasters.
