Iasmim Amiden dos Santos is a Ph.D. student in the School of Journalism at Michigan State University. Her research examines environmental communication and journalism in Latin America, with a focus on media discourses, cultural processes, and representations of Indigenous and traditional communities through decolonial and feminist lenses. She has collaborated with NGOs in the Pantanal – the world’s largest tropical wetland – on community-based climate initiatives, including pollinator protection, flood alert systems, and sustainable income alternatives. Iasmim was also part of the founding editorial team of The Conversation Brasil, advancing science communication in the country.
