Dr. Jenn Brousseau is an interdisciplinary social scientist interested in understanding what elements influence environmental planning (e.g., collaboration, trust, social networks, learning) and how we move from planning to action, with a broad focus on the human dimensions of climate change. Dr. Brousseau is advancing an environmental social science research program centering students and focused on coastal property owners’ decision-making related to resilience and risk perception, the role of regional climate planning in advancing climate action, the dynamics of decision-making related to wildfire mitigation and planning, and how the arts can help us envision more sustainable climate futures. Past research has included 1. identifying effective practices for conducting climate adaptation workshops, 2. documenting trends in how climate planning addresses social justice, and 3. identifying factors that have influenced the adoption of climate adaptation and wildfire mitigation projects. Dr. Brousseau received her Ph.D. in Forest Resources and Environmental Conservation from Virginia Tech and completed a postdoc at Colorado State University studying wildfire governance. In a former life, Dr. Brousseau followed orangutans around rainforests in Indonesia and led environmental education programs for Indonesian and international students.
