Jevgeniy is a critical environmental and social scientist examining how the state and society navigate the climate crisis. His research focuses on two primary dimensions: the externalization of mitigation responsibilities and the juridification of climate politics. Empirically, Jevgeniy investigates carbon governance—including land-use change, carbon removal, and negative emissions—to examine how different actors participate in governing carbon across scales and the resulting implications for climate justice. Additionally, he explores climate litigation involving states, corporations, and activists. By studying climate trials, he analyzes how different actors mobilize the courts and evaluates the broader consequences of juridification for climate action.
