Kristof Szombati has a background in both activism and academia. While his scholarly work has focused on racism, radical right-wing politics and illiberal statecraft in Hungary, he has also had a long-term engagement with environmental movements in Eastern Europe and with the green political network in Brussels. In the past few years, Szombati has mainly supported Greenpeace’s work by offering analyses of radical right-wing parties’ efforts to re-frame climate change and redefine their policy agenda. While continuing his scholarly work on the New Right, he hopes that CSSN will offer an opportunity to collaborate with others and get a better grasp of the transnational institutional linkages and cultural processes driving climate change politics.
