Livia Kalil is a PhD candidate in political science at the Université Sorbonne Nouvelle (CREDA, USN-CNRS, UMR 7227), in joint supervision with the University of São Paulo (Procam). Her research focuses on the dynamics of ecological transition in the Brazilian agricultural sector. She is particularly interested in the role of agronomists in implementing the Low-Carbon Agriculture Plan, and in how these actors influence sustainable agricultural policies. Her work combines a socio-political approach to actor networks with a detailed analysis of environmental issues related to agriculture.She recently published the article “Financing which Agriculture for which Transition? Insight from the Brazilian Low Carbon Agriculture Program” in the Revue internationale des études du développement (no. 254, 2024), in which she analyzes the financing mechanisms of agricultural transitions. In addition, she authored the entry “Climatisation” in the Dictionnaire politique de l’Amérique latine (Éditions de l’IHEAL, 2024), exploring how climate issues are reshaping public policies in Latin America.
