Dr. Pintu Kumar Mahla is a research associate at the Water Resources Research Institute, University of Arizona, Tucson, Arizona. He also served as an Assistant Professor of Political Science at Mody University of Science and Technology, Rajasthan, India. He specializes in Water Security & Governance, Hydropower & river basin management, and hydropower as water/energy nexus, in South Asia. Dr. Mahla has published articles in numerous other academic journals as well, including Cambridge Journal of Political Affairs, Observatory for the Analysis of International Systems (OASIS), Journal of Defence Studies, and Journal of Critical Reviews. His current research focuses on South Asia Geopolitics, Water Security in South Asia, China and Pakistan hydro-political relations, India’s Foreign and Security Policy, Climate Change and Sustainable Development. Prior to his employment at Mody University of Science and Technology, Mahla was actively engaged in research internship programs at esteemed think-tanks, including the Non-Traditional Security Centre, India, The Manohar Parrikar Institute for Defence Studies and Analyses (MP-IDSA), New Delhi, India, and the Observer Research Foundation (ORF), New Delhi, India. He holds an M.A. in Political Science from University of Rajasthan, Jaipur, India and and a Ph.D. in National Security Studies from Central University of Jammu, India, and a B.A. in Social Science from Sardar Patel University of Police, Security and Criminal Justice, Jodhpur (Rajasthan), India.
