Savannah is a PhD candidate in the UPEP (Environmental Policy) program at Duke University. Her dissertation research focuses on how to mitigate impacts and build out benefits of critical mineral mining for communities, to help move clean energy transition forward. Her research interests include critical mineral mining in the context of clean energy transition, energy access, renewable tech end-of-life management, and Indigenous rights. Prior to her PhD, she worked as a lawyer in the fields of environmental, Aboriginal, and Indigenous law in Canada. She holds a JD (law degree) from the University of Victoria and a MSc in Environmental Sciences, Policy, and Management from the MESPOM Erasmus Mundus Joint Masters program.
