Steve is the Treasurer of the International Environmental Communication Association and a Professor Emeritus in the School of Communication, Film, and Media Studies at the University of Cincinnati. He is currently the co-editor of a book series on Media and Environmental Communication published by Palgrave MacMillan. He was the founding editor of Environmental Communication: A Journal of Nature and Culture, and the founding chair of the International Environmental Communication Association (IECA). His research areas include environmental and risk communication, particularly the role of the public in environmental decision-making and public communication.
