Syma Alexi Ebbin is an interdisciplinary scientist, well versed in both natural and social sciences. Ebbin engages in research focused on the institutional and human dimensions of environmental and resource management and policy. Much of Ebbin’s work has examined participatory management approaches and the role of institutional structure on social and ecological outcomes. Ebbin serves as both a professor at the University of Connecticut’s Avery Point campus and the Research Coordinator for Connecticut Sea Grant (CTSG). Affiliated with UConn’s Department of Agricultural and Resource Economics and Maritime Studies Program, Ebbin teaches courses in environmental and marine science and policy and engage in applied social science research. At CTSG, Ebbin administers the program’s research funding programs, and work on outreach aimed at Connecticut’s marine spatial planning efforts as well as climate adaptation.
