Dr. He received her PhD from the Bren School of Environmental Science and Management, University of California, Santa Barbara. She also holds a Master of Science from the University of Michigan and a Bachelor of Social Sciences from the University of Hong Kong. She speaks Mandarin, Hakka, English, Spanish, and Portuguese, and has conducted fieldwork in Bolivia, Brazil, Peru, China, and Indonesia.
